Roger Federer handily defeated Richard Gasquet in the quarterfinal of the U.S. Open on Wednesday, needing less than 90 minutes to declare a 6-3, 6-3, 6-1 victory at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The No. 2-seeded Federer has won all 15 sets heâs played and has won 67 of 69 service games. âMaybe at my age, to run through five opponents the way I have done here at the U.S. Open, I donât consider that normal, to be quite honest, even though I expect it in some ways,â the 34-year-old said. Federer hasnât won a major title since Wimbledon in 2012, losing to No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the finals there in July as well as last year. Federer will face off against fellow Swiss Stan Wawrinka on Friday.
