A New York City police officer was shot and killed while sitting in her police vehicle in the Bronx early Wednesday morning. A suspect allegedly approached without warning and shot her through the car window at about 12:30 a.m. “This is absolutely an unprovoked attack,” said NYPD Commissioner James P. O’Neill. Miosotis Familia, 48, a 12-year veteran, was rushed to a nearby hospital but could not be saved in surgery. The suspect was killed just one block away by two other officers, police officials said. One bystander was reportedly shot in the stomach during the attack, and is in stable condition.
