Fergie Dives Into Prince Andrew’s Sex Scandal

Standing by Her Man

Either they really are going to marry again—or Fergie is the world’s most loyal ex. Who else would see a former spouse accused of underage sex and call him ‘the greatest man there is’?

The world’s weirdest ex-marriage just got a little weirder.

Yes, Sarah Ferguson has waded into the debate on Prince Andrew’s alleged unseemly engagements with a 17-year-old masseuse who claims she was being pimped out by convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

And the redheaded bane of Prince Philip’s life is sticking by her (ex) man.

Asked Monday if she was supporting Andrew, Fergie told reporters in the French alpine ski resort of Verbier, where she has been on the annual York winter ski trip (which also includes Cressida Bonas, who is a friend of their daughter Princess Beatrice): “The York family is a tight unit. We’ve always been a tight unit.

“He is the greatest man there is. It was the finest moment of my life in 1986 when I married him. He is a great man, the best in the world.”

Fergie suffered negative publicity as a result of the duke’s ill-advised friendship with Epstein when it emerged in 2011 that Epstein had paid off a £15,000 debt for her. She vowed to repay the money—no official word, however, on whether she ever did that.

Fergie’s intervention is making the front pages of all the major U.K. papers Tuesday.

Andrew and Fergie separated in 1992 after six years of marriage and formally divorced in 1996. But Sarah Ferguson still lives in the family home, Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, when she is in the U.K.

Her new comments will only add to ongoing speculation that the Yorks plan, one day, to remarry.
