After being on the market for almost five years, the iconic glass house from the 1986 cult classic film, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, has sold for $1.25 million—almost half of its original asking price. After lots of press and being for sale for two years, the listing was deactivated while the marketing team developed a new angle for the A. James Speyer-designed house. The listing re-appeared in late 2013 with an emphasis on the modernist structure’s architectural heritage, downplaying its screen time. “One of the things that continually got missed the last time we were on the market is the house has such an incredible architectural history,” the listing agency told Chicago Magazine. The tactic worked and, after six months, the wood and glass 4,300 square foot Highland Park, Illinois home finally found a new owner.
