Five children were killed and two adults were injured in a Maryland car crash Saturday morning, officials said. The children, who ranged in age from 5 to 15, were seated in the backseat of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica as it veered off the road and into a “wooded area.” The car hit several trees and then spun onto a snowy field. The children were thrown out of the car and were pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials. The two adults, driver Dominique Taylor and front passenger Cornell Simon, were hospitalized. While law enforcement officials are still investigating the crash, they believe the children weren’t properly wearing seat belts. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan tweeted this weekend: “Deeply saddened by this tragic auto accident in Prince George’s County. Praying for everyone involved, including first responders.”
