Sen. Jeff Flake was not exactly surprised to see his approval rating tank almost immediately after casting his vote against expanded background checks on gun sales despite having earlier said he was in support of them. “Given the public’s dim view of Congress in general, that probably puts me somewhere just below pond scum,” the Arizona senator wrote on his Facebook page. According to the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling, Flake has a 32 percent approval rating, placing him among America’s least popular senators.
