A Virgin Australia flight was forced to turn around shortly after takeoff Monday night after a passenger allegedly got naked and ran down the aisle, knocking a crew member to the floor. The Australian Federal Police said officers arrested the man when the plane returned to Perth instead of continuing its flight to Melbourne. A spokesperson for the airline confirmed that the aircraft turned back due to a “disruptive passenger” and apologized to “guests impacted” by the incident. A passenger on the flight identified as Sterling told Guardian Australia that about an hour into the flight he suddenly heard “running up the aisle and the guy’s got no clothes on and he’s just charging towards the front of the plane.” Sterling said there was “a lot of yelling and screaming” after the man allegedly knocked the crew member to the floor, adding that he’d been alarmed that someone was running toward the cockpit. He said a “big guy in business class” had intervened before “two other guys later got up and tackled” the suspect.
