President Donald Trump reportedly believes the the Church of Scientology’s tax-exempt status should be revoked. Lynne Patton, a longtime Trump family aide who currently serves as the New York and New Jersey region administrator at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, reportedly told actress Leah Remini that Trump does not believe the institution should be tax-exempt and that she “would interface with the IRS directly to seek more information in an effort to initiate revocation,” HuffPost reports. Remini used to be a member of the church but left in 2013 due to what she describes in her TV series as a cult-like structure rife with abuse.
