Former Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe continued to drop explosive soundbites Tuesday evening, telling CNN anchor Anderson Cooper that he believes “it’s possible” President Trump could be a Russian asset.
Continuing his media blitz in support of his new book, The Threat, McCabe appeared on Anderson Cooper 360 for a lengthy, wide-ranging interview. After saying the president is “undermining the role of law enforcement” and their “ability to protect” America, McCabe dismissed criticism from Trump allies that he’s part of the “Deep State.”
“I find that so incredibly offensive,” he fumed. “I think that the millions of men and women who serve this country every day in all kinds of roles across the federal government would also find that offensive.”

As the interview came to an end, Cooper had one final question for McCabe: “Do you still believe the president could be a Russian asset?”
“I think it’s possible,” the ex-FBI official replied. “I think that's why we started our investigation. And I’m really anxious to see where [former FBI] Director Mueller concludes that.”
In an earlier interview with The Atlantic’s Natasha Bertrand, McCabe said he felt that the president’s past behavior in regards to Russia and President Vladimir Putin struck him as someone who “certainly could be compromised.” He also told 60 Minutes that he was shocked when Trump didn’t believe North Korea had long-range missiles because Putin told him so.
“I don’t care,” the president allegedly said. “I believe Putin.”
