Former Tonight Show host Jay Leno is on the front lines helping first responders in the wake of the deadly L.A. fires.

Leno told host Sandra Smith that he volunteered to serve meals to the firefighters responding to the emergency affecting the greater Los Angeles area because he didn’t want to be a part of the “blame game.”

“The great thing is I haven’t heard a political discussion for the last four days. Nobody’s blaming this, that,” said Leno. “Everybody else in L.A. is pointing fingers and blaming people. These are the people actually doing something to fix it.”

Last week on Fox News, host Laura Ingraham pointed fingers at “California liberals” for “their environmental fanaticism,” claiming it has affected the emergency response to the fires and “shoved commonsense thinking out the door.”

California leaders have faced criticism over their handling of the fires.

Billionaire “first buddy” Elon Musk blamed the fires on a water shortage that was debunked by a firefighter, with California Gov. Gavin Newsom having to directly admonish President-elect Donald Trump for also stoking misinformation.

Leno said the “silver lining” surrounding the tragedy was the “sense of community that’s come out of it.”

“We’ll rebuild it,” Leno said. “It’s sad that it takes something like this to bring everybody together, but that’s sometimes what it takes.”
