Fox News has reportedly removed all signs of its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives after being called out for employing DEI as a company while hosts aligned with President Donald Trump’s push to scrap the practice.
Trump suggested on Thursday that DEI at the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) “could have” caused the fatal aircraft collision in Washington D.C. between a commercial flight and a Black Hawk helicopter that killed 67 people.
Oliver Darcy of Status News pointed out the hypocrisy of Fox in his newsletter when he highlighted that DEI is still included in job postings on the network’s shows such as Hannity and Fox & Friends, where they claimed that the company is “deeply committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, including attracting, retaining, and promoting diverse talent.”
The listings added that “reflecting the diversity of the world around us is critical to our company’s success.”
After being called out, Darcy wrote that the company swiftly scrapped all the DEI verbiage from job listings, claiming via a spokesperson that this was part of their routine upkeep of the site.
“Fox News Media routinely reviews our legal obligations including under federal, state, and local law and we have removed this language,” Mediaite reported.
According to Darcy, on Thursday, Fox News host Sean Hannity claimed that the aircraft crash exemplified “why DEI can be dangerous,” while another host, Jesse Watters, resorted to blaming the air traffic control’s staff shortage due to “DEI quotas.” Yet another host, Laura Ingraham, went on to demand “all that nonsense [about] diversity has to go.”
It was these very comments that fueled Darcy’s initial questions about the job listings from these Fox programs.
