Fox Panel Gets Testy Over Trump’s DEI Fixation

FURIOUS FIVE

Greg Gutfeld argued Trump “didn’t know” about a DEI hiring policy put in place during his first term.

Fox News' The Five grew contentious on Friday after co-host Jessica Tarlov pointed out that the type of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policy Donald Trump blamed for Wednesday’s plane and helicopter crash in Washington, D.C. was put in place during his first term.

“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with asking questions about our procedures that ended up with a completely cataclysmic American horror story. We all agree on that,” Tarlov began. “But when Jesse [Watters] says that President Trump is offering constructive criticism, it is not constructive criticism to say this is Joe Biden’s fault. Or this is Pete Buttigieg’s fault.”

“Why not?” Watters asked.

Tarlov replied, “Because that is just blaming your political adversary. It is not taking any responsibility.”

“It’s blaming the guy who was there before,” Watters responded.

Tarlov used that as an opening to bring up how some of the very policies Trump has bashed were enacted during his first term. Others had been around since 2013.

“The nifty part about being the 45th and 47th president is you were also the guy before, and Greg [Gutfeld] is right: These policies were in place under Trump. I went to try to find out about your ‘dwarf recruitment,’ and that existed under the Trump administration,” Tarlov said, referencing how Watters has questioned DEI policies benefitting “dwarves” and “people with transgender issues.”

“A dwarf quota?” Watters asked.

“Yes, actually,” Tarlov replied. “It is up from June 2017 to June 2021. There’s even a post from April 2019: ‘FAA provides careers to people with disabilities.’”

As Tarlov was about to read off a list of certain disabilities, Jeanine Pirro said, “Just give them a job! Don’t put them in a control tower.”

Gutfeld joined in by claiming Tarlov is essentially explaining why the Elon Musk-run Department of Government Efficiency is “necessary.”

“Trump didn’t know about that. Let’s be obvious,” he argued, prompting Tarlov to point out that that would mean Trump “doesn’t know what he is in control of, at least for the first four years.”
