Fox & Friends Weekend crew earned their scorn this weekend for referring to El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras as “3 Mexican Countries” in a segment about President Trump’s plan to cut aid to the Central American countries as a disincentive for sending so-called migrant caravans to the U.S. southern border. The errant headline lasted just a few seconds, but was soon the talk of Twitter as media watchers retweeted it with choice commentary about the president’s favorite source for news and information getting something most high schoolers know wrong. For the record, Mexico is only one country and is not even a target of Trump’s aid cut announcement. Ed Henry, Fox & Friends Weekend fill in co-host, issued an on-air correction after the mistake went viral. “Now we want to clarify and correct something that happened earlier in the show,” he said. “We had an inaccurate graphic onscreen while taking about this very story. We just want to be clear, the funding is being cut off to the three Central American countries. We apologize for the error—it never should’ve happened.”
