Young celebrities are't just spending their money on cars and clothes--they're investing millions in real estate. Frances Bean Cobain, 19-year-old scion of rock stars Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain, bought herself a mini-manse in Los Angeles. From Vanessa Hudgens’s villa to Justin Bieber’s dream apartment, see more extravagant homes of the young and famous.

The only child of Hole singer Courtney Love and Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain, Frances Bean Cobain was the sole beneficiary of a sizable trust fund that was set up after her father committed suicide in 1994. According to a legal analyst, the trust was likely put aside “to protect Frances Bean Cobain from creditors or future ex-spouses,” though she was still a baby when it was created. Now that she’s all grown up, Cobain has tapped into her savings to purchase her own private pad in Los Angeles. The $1.8 million Spanish-style home was reportedly built in 1930 and designed by architect and Oscar-winning art director Carl Jules Weyl. So when she gets tired of dorm life at New York’s Bard College, where she’s reportedly an undergrad, Cobain can escape with a few school pals to her new four-bedroom abode.

Hilary Duff was still the star of Disney’s Lizzie McGuire when she put down a cool $3.5 million on a mansion in Toluca Lake, Calif. According to the property listing, Duff bought the five-bedroom home in March 2004, before she was 18. The house was equipped with all sorts of amenities, including a private gym, a chef’s kitchen, a gift-wrapping room, and a billiard room. It also boasted a wine cellar and cognac-drinking room. Who knew the underage Duff had such sophisticated taste? Buying a house marked the beginning of the child star’s swift transition to adulthood. She has since married NHL player Mike Comrie and, at 23, is currently expecting her first child. Duff put her Toluca Lake manse on the market last year for $7 million before she moved in with her husband in Beverly Hills. But apparently she wasn’t getting any bites: she recently cut the listing price to $6.25 million.

When Miley Cyrus first made it big as the star of Disney’s Hannah Montana, her mom made her promise to live at home until she was 20. “I got out of that!” the tween star told People magazine last year when she was in the process of buying her own place. Cyrus said her mom was “stoked” because the property is close to her family’s home and she was more than willing to help her create “a really zen” space. “My house is going to be gorgeous because my mom is an interior designer,” Cyrus told People. She didn’t move in until she turned 18 and, from her description, the $3.4 million home sounds perfectly suited for someone her age. “We did all these different things to make it a place that’s so chill,” she said. “Like all my couches are on the floor and I have pillows on the floor.” It also sounds slightly like a hippie commune. “My religion is love, so my door is always open for anyone who wants to come in.”

Demi Lovato’s piggy bank started filling up when she began acting at age 7 on Barney & Friends, before landing starring roles in the Camp Rock movies. But the money really rolled in when Lovato parlayed her entertaining talents into a singing career in 2008, launching her debut album, Don’t Forget, which sold 89,000 copies within a week of its release. Her second album came out a year later and was an even bigger hit. At 16, she joined the ranks of other young Disney stars when she landed the lead on the network’s TV series Sonny With a Chance. Coincidentally, she bought a $1.88 million house down the street from Miley Cyrus and Hilary Duff that same year.

Vanessa Hudgens was 19 when she bought her first home in October 2008. It was shortly after the recession hit, but that didn’t stop the High School Musical star from shelling out $2.75 million on a six-bedroom, Tuscan-style villa in Studio City, Calif. While a Pebble Tec pool surrounded by tropical waterfalls, a cabana, and a barbecue island might not appear to fit with the house’s Old World vibe, they provide an ideal atmosphere for parties. And now that Hudgens is 22, she can legally stock up her wine cellar.

Shad Gregory Moss (aka Bow Wow, née Lil’) was only 6 years old when he first rapped on stage during the Chronic tour. At 13 he unleashed his very first rap album, Beware of Dog, and under mentor Snoop Dogg’s wing, the Ohio tween sold millions of records. Moss held onto his success through puberty—when he decided it was probably time to drop the “Lil” from his stage name—and at age 20 he purchased his very own home in an Atlanta suburb. At 3,615 square feet and less than $1 million, Bow Wow’s three-bedroom pad, which boasts a small movie theater and outdoor pool, is pretty tame compared with other rappers’ cribs. But it looks like Bow Wow is ready for bigger and better things: he recently put his digs on the market for $1.5 million.

Remember Frankie Muniz, of Malcolm in the Middle fame? The child actor-turned-racecar driver (and potential politician) dropped $3.5 million on this Hollywood Hills house when he was just 21 years old. Muniz’s manse sits on roughly an acre of land with an outdoor fireplace, spa, and swimming pool. If you’re in the market for a $3.2 million, five-bedroom house in Los Angeles, you’re in luck! Muniz, now 25, is selling.

Lindsay Lohan is not one to let rehab get in the way of her plans. While in residence at the Wonderland Center in Hollywood, a 20-year-old Lohan became determined to get closer to her role model Marilyn Monroe and purchased the late actress’s former Hollywood apartment to move into after checking out of treatment. While Lohan’s sobriety has come and gone in the years since she first purchased her idol’s home, her adoration for Monroe hasn’t faltered.

Shortly before The Biebs turned 17, he was reportedly shopping in Los Angeles with his mom and grandmother in tow for the perfect birthday gift. According to The Daily Mail, the teen sensation had his eye on a newly renovated, $1.7 million three-bedroom apartment complete with white marble floors, a white grand piano, and a terrace overlooking the city. The apartment also came with two parking spots in an underground garage, where Bieber could house his $200,000 Ferrari and $220,000 Lamborghini. Though his mom approved of the bachelor pad, it’s not clear whether they ever signed off on the place. Perhaps he’s still waiting for girlfriend Selena Gomez’s approval.

Now that Nick Jonas is rehearsing to take over the lead role from Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe in the Broadway revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Jonas wants his own place in New York. The New York Post reports that the 19-year-old Jonas brother was recently spotted apartment-hunting near Lincoln Center and had his heart set on a $6.85 million, two-bedroom unit in the same luxury building where Denzel Washington, Sting, and Alex Rodriguez also have lived. While buying the apartment would have been an investment for the teen star, whose net worth is $18 million, Jonas reportedly wasn’t ready to make the plunge and was hoping to rent the place for $26,000 a month.
