HBO’s Game of Thrones’s Sunday-night episode shocked viewers with a gruesome massacre that left young rebel Robb Stark; his mother, Catelyn; his pregnant wife; and all of his men dead. What’s more, Catelyn killed a child in a (failed) attempt to free her son. The episode, called “The Red Wedding,” caused an explosion on Twitter at 9:49 p.m., with shocked viewers tweeting their surprise. But TV series creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss said it had been a challenge to keep up the surprise, since it occurs in the third book in the series the television show is based on. “This is not about an epic battle of good and evil,” Benioff said. “If that’s what you’re looking for, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment.”
