A giant panda gave birth to twins at Washington D.C.'s National Zoo Saturday. The twins came as an unexpected surprise. The mother, Mei Xiang, had previously given birth to two surviving cubs, one in 2005 and one in 2013. The gender of these new cubs is yet to be determined. There are only about 1,600 giant pandas known to be living in the wild and about 300 in captivity.
