Giuliani Writing to Mueller Expressing ‘Reluctance’ Over Obstruction Questions

Rudy Giuliani, President Trump’s attorney for the special counsel investigation, has said he will reject Robert Mueller’s latest offer of a presidential interview that would include questions about possible obstruction of justice. “We have a real reluctance about allowing any questions about obstruction,” Giuliani said in an interview with The Washington Post, adding that he would outline his objections in a letter to Mueller to be delivered this week. Giuliani said he expects the letter to “continue the negotiations” for an interview rather than formally decline Mueller’s request. “The president still hasn’t made a decision, and we’re not going to make a final decision just yet,” the former New York mayor said. Trump has publicly attacked Mueller’s investigation as a “hoax” and tweeted last Wednesday that Attorney General Jeff Sessions should “should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now."
