Gizmodo Media Group on Friday filed a Freedom of Information Act complaint against the Justice Department, seeking access to FBI warrant applications filed in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to employ surveillance against Trump campaign officials. Trump claimed in March that President Barack Obama ordered a wiretap of Trump Tower, a suggestion that was shot down by top national security officials. Gizmodo is seeking information on what sparked the federal government to apply for the warrants in the first place. “Our complaint, filed on our behalf by McClanahan, maintains that when Trump disclosed the existence of the warrants, he waived the government’s right to claim that the existence of the warrants is classified,” Gizmodo’s John Cook wrote.
