GOP Rep. Cory Mills is being investigated by the Washington, D.C. police department for an alleged assault of a woman who he was reportedly in a relationship with.
The first police report, provided to News4 states that the womanâs âsignificant other for over a year grabbed her, shoved her, and pushed her out of the door.â The report says she showed the officer âbruises on her arm which appeared fresh.â
She âlet officers hear Subject 1 [now identified by MPD as Mills] instruct her to lie about the origin of her bruises⌠Eventually, Subject 1 made contact with police and admitted that the situation escalated from verbal to physical, but it was severe enough to create bruising.â
Mills has been married to his wife Rana Al Saadi since 2014, though according to his rep, they separated two years ago. The couple has two children together.
The Florida lawmaker is a staunch Trump supporter who is currently serving his second term in the House.

Officers responded to a reported assault at about 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
Mills has not been arrested yet, and no charges have been filed against him. He is scheduled to speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference being held in Washington later this week.

The representativeâs spokesperson told the Daily Beast in a statement that Mills denies any wrongdoing.
âThis week, law enforcement was asked to resolve a private matter at Congressman Millsâ residence. Congressman Mills vehemently denies any wrongdoing whatsoever, and is confident any investigation will clear this matter quickly,â the spokesperson said.
NBC obtained a text message from the alleged victim that read: âWhile the personal matter in question was emotionally charged, there was no physical altercation.â
She said bruises were from medical conditions and activities from a recent overseas trip.
Rep. Mills is a U.S. Army veteran and intends to run for Senate in Florida for the seat that was held by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The Republican is also currently being investigated by the House Committee on Ethics, based on a matter submitted in August of last year.
