A Georgia lawmaker who came under fire for dropping his pants and shouting racial slurs in an episode of Sacha Baron Cohen’s Who Is America? has reportedly agreed to resign. House Speaker David Ralston’s office announced the news late Tuesday, saying Republican State Rep. Jason Spencer will surrender his seat in the legislature at the end of the month, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Facing mounting pressure to step down since the episode aired Sunday night, Spencer had initially refused to resign over what he described as the “ridiculously ugly episode.” He said he was tricked into using “provocative language” in what he thought was an anti-terrorism training video. He apparently gave in to pressure, however, after GOP leaders in Georgia moved to file a joint ethics complaint against him.
