As Democrats and Republicans continue to butt heads over a secret memo detailing alleged sexual misconduct on the part of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) lamented on Fox News Sunday that the entire process has become an “intergalactic freakshow.” Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), who received the memo in late July, referred it to the FBI last week and it was added to Kavanaugh’s background file. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), a top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, called on Republicans to delay Kavanaugh’s confirmation vote in the committee, which is scheduled for next Thursday, in light of the secret memo. “Most Americans are looking at this—most mainstream Americans—and they’re thinking that Congress has hit rock bottom and started to dig. And I have been embarrassed by the whole process,” Kennedy said.
