GOP Senator Calls Sheryl Crow Dumb for Ditching Tesla in Viral Video

BLAH BLAH BLAH

Sen. John Kennedy went on Hannity to deliver a folksy quip about Crow’s lack of “clever thoughts.”

A Republican senator took time out of his busy legislative schedule to go on Fox News and blast Sheryl Crow for having the audacity to sell her Tesla.

Over the weekend, the pop-country singer went viral after she posted a video on Instagram showing her waving to a truck hauling away her Tesla to the tune of Andrea Bocelli’s “Time To Say Goodbye.”

“There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long Tesla,” she wrote in the caption. She added that she had donated the money from the sales to NPR, “which is under threat by President [Elon] Musk, in hopes that the truth will continue to find its way to those willing to know the truth.”

Musk’s nebulous cost-cutting task force DOGE—the “department” of government efficiency—has been tasked with recommending $2 trillion in government spending cuts. Defunding NPR is, predictably, on billionaire Musk’s wish list.

Rather than engage with Crow on the merits, Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA), 73, took the tried-and-true route of insulting her intelligence.

“I think she means well, but if she ever had a clever thought, it died alone and afraid,” he told Fox News host Sean Hannity, who chortled and called it “the best reaction you could ever want.”

Kennedy then immediately pivoted to talking about former President Joe Biden and his supporters partying with the disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

Musk’s far-right turn has tanked Tesla sales in Europe, and over the weekend, protesters called for boycotts at dozens of showrooms across the U.S., The Guardian reported. Given Musk’s proximity to Trump, lawmakers in the U.K. have also called for the government to impose tariffs on Teslas to retaliate for the White House’s taxes on steel imports.

Tesla shares account for about one-third of Musk’s wealth, according to Bloomberg.

Blaming the boycott on “out of touch liberal elites,” Hannity said, “You know what? I think my next car—I’m really going to look into a Tesla. I think that’s going to be my next car.”

A Fox News host threatening to buy an electric vehicle to get back at the liberal elites? Politics really does makes strange bedfellows.
