Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) brought down another Trump nominee Thursday, announcing he would oppose Thomas Farr’s nomination to be a federal judge in North Carolina. Scott, who is African-American, criticized Farr’s record on race issues. Farr worked as a lawyer for Jesse Helms and has been accused of crafting voter-suppression measures in North Carolina. Scott joined Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) and all Democrats in opposing Farr, whose nomination was scheduled for a final vote next week. Earlier this year, Scott tanked another Trump nominee, Ryan Bounds, over racially insensitive writings.
