The Grateful Dead will reunite this July with a little help from Phish. Trey Anastasio will fill in for the late Jerry Garcia for the Dead’s three 50th-anniversary shows, the band announced Friday. The shows are likely to be the last that the “core four” (Bob Weir, 67; Phil Lesh, 74; Mickey Hart, 71; and Bill Kreutzmann, 68) play together. The shows will be held July 3-5 at Soldier Field in Chicago—the last venue the band played with Garcia, a month before his death in 1995. “I got a really heart-warming letter from Phil saying that he and the other three guys had talked about it and hoped I would do it,” Anastasio told Billboard. “I didn’t hesitate for a second to say yes. It’s an absolute honor to be part of this final chapter.”
