The man who allegedly fatally shot his ex-fiancée outside a Chicago hospital before killing two people inside on Monday was the subject of a protection order request filed in 2014 by another woman, police said Tuesday. The woman complained in 2014 that Juan Lopez, now 32, was texting her incessantly and refused to stop, Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said at a Tuesday press conference. The woman sought an order of protection from a judge, but it’s unclear whether she was granted such an order. Lopez was not criminally charged at the time. He died following the Monday attack at Mercy Hospital, and had legally purchased four guns in the last five years, apparently despite the woman’s complaint. The AP reports it remains unclear if police shot Lopez or if Lopez shot himself.
