Hackers took over the Twitter account of NBC journalist Peter Alexander on Sunday and directed a series of threatening messages at President Trump. “Mr Trump, we will tear down blood vessels of those who are hostiles to TURKIYE,” one message from the “Turkish Cyber Army” read. “No one can take down our country,” the hackers wrote. Apparently in response to Trump’s tariffs against Turkey, the hackers accused the U.S. of trying to “defeat” Turkey with an “economic crisis.” Several other tweets were sent out in Turkish. NBC News confirmed the cyber attack on Alexander’s account and said the account of White House correspondent Kristen Welker had also “been compromised.”
