Security forces in Libya have allegedly been gang-raping women at checkpoints and using sexual enhancement drugs as a “machete,” according to a prosecutor for the International Criminal Court. The court in The Hague has now agreed to investigate the allegations of institutionalized rape in the country. In April, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations reportedly said that embattled leader Muammar Gaddafi had been distributing Viagra pills to his forces “so they could go out and rape.” On Monday, the ICC sought to arrest Gaddafi for “widespread and systematic” attacks in Libya.
