Halsey blasted the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Sunday night for its “lack of diversity.” The singer, who performed in the show when it was filmed Nov. 8, issued a scathing statement on Instagram in Victoria’s Secret trademark colors—pink and white. Noting that her performance at the show “was supposed to be the best night of my year,” she said certain “comments made regarding the show” ruined the experience. In an interview with Vogue published just before the show’s taping, Ed Razek, the chief marketing officer of Victoria’s Secret’s parent company, suggested the show should not feature trans or plus-size models because it’s meant to be a “fantasy.” Halsey appeared to reference Razek’s comments in her statement, saying she has “no tolerance for a lack of inclusivity. Especially not one motivated by stereotype.” She said she’d made a donation to GLSEN, an organization aiming to help LGBTQ+ youth, as a sign of respect to “those youth targeted by these comments in a world where they have been made to feel ‘other.’” “We stand in solidarity, and complete and total acceptance is the only ‘fantasy’ that I support,” she wrote.
