Hannity Blasts ‘Garbage’ Border-Wall Compromise

GOOD GRIEF

Fox News host suggested any Republicans who support the deal would face backlash.

Fox News commentator Sean Hannity bashed Congress’ tentative border-wall funding deal reached Monday night while he was covering President Trump’s rally in El Paso, Texas, urging Republicans not to get behind what he described as a “garbage” compromise. The potential accord would allocate $1.375 billion to build 55 miles of new border barriers—a figure The Sean Hannity Show host said is peanuts compared to the $5.7 billion President Donald Trump previously demanded for the construction of 200 miles of wall along the U.S.-Mexico boundary. “On this new so-called compromise… $1.3 billion?... That’s not even a wall, a barrier,” he griped as Trump drummed up support for a wall at the rally about one mile from the Mexican border. “Any Republican that supports this garbage compromise, you’ll have to explain. Look at this crowd, look at the country, look at CBS News. Even they say 72 percent of the American people want the heroin to stop, the cartels to stop, the gang members to stop, and those that wish us ill,” he said. Democrats also made concessions as part of the tentative agreement reached Monday night—including dropping their proposal to limit the number of detained immigrants caught inside the U.S.—in an effort to strike a border-wall deal and avoid another partial government shutdown.
