The horror film Happy Death Day exceeded expectations to place first in the box office this weekend, beating out the star-studded Blade Runner 2049. The slasher flick, which follows a woman who must re-live the day she was killed over and over again in order to solve her own murder, raked in $26.5 million over the weekend, while grosses for the much costlier Blade Runner fell 54 percent in its second weekend.
