The development was revealed after the couple used a post on their website to urge unaffected homeowners to provide shelter to individuals who had lost their properties in the devastating blazes sweeping the Californian city. “If a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, please do,” the post on their website read. “And be sure to check in with any disabled or elderly neighbors to see if they need help evacuating.” The source said the couple are now working through their Archewell Foundation to identify and implement the most impactful ways to support the community including working with José Andrés of the charity World Central Kitchen. The family have donated clothing, children’s items, and other essential supplies to those affected by the fires, The Daily Beast has been told. Meghan’s feel-good home and entertaining show is still currently slated to drop on Netflix next week.

Donald Trump on Thursday selected yet another Fox News figure to serve in his administration, naming former contributor Leo Terrell as senior counsel to the assistant attorney general for civil rights. Terrell, who will work under fellow California attorney Harmeet Dhillon, is the 18th current or former Fox News staffer set to join the Trump administration. On that network Wednesday night, Terrell joined many other conservatives in criticizing Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley, who is the first woman to hold that position. “You got a city fire chief who thinks DEI is the No. 1 issue!” Terrell told a receptive Sean Hannity. “It’s insulting. And you know what? I blame the voters and I blame the media here. Sean, you think national media’s biased? The local media in California kiss the ring of the Democrat party. They do nothing. They don’t ask the right questions.” Trump himself has made similar accusations amid the wildfires. A Fox spokesperson confirmed to the Daily Beast that Terrell’s contributor contract was terminated following Trump’s announcement Thursday.

When she was famously hit in the face with a pie while speaking at an Iowa event against anti-discrimination policies, she quipped, “At least it’s a fruit pie.” Bryant was a three-time Grammy nominee, singing at the 1971 Super Bowl, and cohosting the televised Orange Bowl Parade for nine years.

A Pasadena couple recalled witnessing the first moments of the horrific Eaton fire as it broke out Tuesday evening near Los Angeles. “My husband came home at 6:15 and ran in and said the electrical tower that’s across the canyon and up from us, is on fire,” resident Jennifer Errico told Pasadena Now on what her husband Marcus first saw. “I called 9-1-1 and within 10 minutes the fire was down across the canyon.” The couple were among the first to spot and report the wildfire in the area, with Errico recalling: “We grabbed our to-go boxes, ran around the cul-de-sac ringing doorbells.” She added that fire crews arrived within 15 minutes and ordered everyone to evacuate immediately. Since Tuesday, the Eaton fire has exploded to more than 10,600 acres. Officials have confirmed that at least five people have died since fires began blazing across Los Angeles County, but suggest that the toll may be higher. “It’s absolutely horrifying,” Errico said of the fire’s wreckage. “When we were up there yesterday, after seeing what’s happened in Altadena…it’s like my heart’s broken.”

President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team is reportedly planning to reimplement Title 42, a border restriction used to block migrants from entering the United States due to public health concerns—but are still searching for the right disease to justify the policy. The first Trump administration first invoked Title 42 in March 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic surged. President Joe Biden initially kept the policy in place for years, but later ended the restriction in May 2023. The incoming administration has been searching for a disease to justify reimplementing Title 42, The New York Times reported, and has already considered using tuberculosis and other respiratory diseases. They also reportedly asked Border Patrol officials to identify diseases currently being detected at the border. Trump’s reintroduction of Title 42 is expected to be a major component of his sweeping plans to shut down the border, multiple sources told Axios, which he previewed alongside his longtime ally and immigration policy advisor Stephen Miller in a meeting with Senate Republicans on Wednesday. The Trump transition team did not immediately return a request for comment.

At least 20 people have been arrested in evacuated zones around Los Angeles County for looting, even as multiple wildfires continue to rage on. “I promise you, you will be held accountable,” L.A. County Supervisor Kathryn Barger said at a news conference Thursday, addressing the alleged looters. “Shame on those who are preying on our residents during this time of crisis.” L.A. Three-time Olympic swimmer Gary Hall Jr. revealed that he lost his home and medals in the fires currently ravaging Los Angeles. “It was worse than any apocalypse movie you’ve ever seen, and 1,000 times worse,“ he said in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald Tuesday. “It’s mayhem in Los Angeles. We were surrounded by flames.” The American added that he was only able to grab his dog and a few items while fleeing his house. “I did think about the medals. I did not have time to get them,” he said. “Everyone wants to know did the medals burn? Yeah, everything burnt. It’s something I can live without. I guess everything is just stuff. Mariska Hargitay has revealed how she landed her iconic role as Olivia Benson on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in a new interview on the Today show.
