As a birthday gift to Harvey Milk—he would have been 84 on Thursday—the White House revealed a postage stamp in his honor. The gay activist and former supervisor of San Francisco was killed in 1978, and is now the first openly gay politician honored with a stamp. The unveiling was presided over by U.N. Ambassador Samantha Power, and attendees included Rep. Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco and the nation’s first openly gay senator, Tammy Baldwin.
