Film producer Harvey Weinstein has been fired from his eponymous film studio, The Weinstein Company. “In light of new information about misconduct by Harvey Weinstein that has emerged in the past few days, the directors of The Weinstein Company—Robert Weinstein, Lance Maerov, Richard Koenigsberg and Tarak Ben Ammar—have determined, and have informed Harvey Weinstein, that his employment with The Weinstein Company is terminated, effective immediately,” the Weinstein Company’s board of representatives said in a statement released Sunday night. The announcement comes after The New York Times reported last week that Weinstein had reached at least eight settlements with women he had sexually harassed. More allegations of sexual misconduct emerged over the weekend, including from British artist and writer Liza Campbell, who said Weinstein had asked her to join him in the bath.
