Disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein surrendered himself to New York police early Friday morning. Weinstein said nothing and appeared to be carrying Something Wonderful—a book about musical theater composers Rodgers and Hammerstein—as he walked into NYPD’s First Precinct just before 7:30 a.m., surrounded by photographers. He has been arrested on rape, criminal sex act, sex abuse and sexual misconduct charges for encounters with two women, according to the Associated Press. He emerged from the building in handcuffs to be taken to court just before 9 a.m. Bail was set at $10 million, or $1 million in cash, which Weinstein is expected to post this afternoon. He will be required to surrender his passport and wear a GPS monitoring system. The charges are the first following an avalanche of accusations against Weinstein that led women around the world to come forward with accounts of being sexually harassed by powerful men in what became known as the #MeToo movement. Weinstein has denied nonconsensual sex with anyone.
