A Harris campaign official told NBC News that there is a “wariness” within the campaign to remind voters of Clinton’s 2016 loss, though Clinton is still seen as an overall asset on the trail. Harris officials said they also wanted to shy away from the identity politics that partially defined Clinton’s failed presidential campaign. “Hillary Clinton said, ‘I’m With Her,’ and they were not,” one aide said of voters. “‘I’m With Her’ means you’re talking more about the candidate than the voter. Now, we are focused on freedom for the voter rather than the candidate.”
