Philip Seymour Hoffman made it very clear that he did not want his son being raised in Hollywood. A 13-page will, signed in October 2004 when his son Cooper was a 1-year-old and before either of his two daughters were born, stated “It is my strong desire, and not direction to my guardian, that my son, Cooper Hoffman, be raised and reside in or near the borough of Manhattan in the State of New York, or Chicago, Illinois, or San Francisco, California.” He stated his desire for his son to spend time in the preferred cities, so he “will be exposed to the culture, arts, and architecture that such cities offer.” Hoffman left his estate to the mother of his three kids and his “friend and companion,” Mimi O’Donnell.
