Arthur Jones, a Holocaust denier currently vying for Illinois’ 3rd Congressional seat, is set to become the Republican nominee because he is running uncontested in the March 20th primary. Jones told the Chicago Sun-Times that he believes the Holocaust was an “international extortion racket,” and even features a section on the topic on his campaign website. He also told the Sun-Times that he “is a former leader of the American Nazi Party” and now heads a group whose membership is only open to any “white American citizen of European, non-Jewish descent.” Jones has been running for public office since the 1970s, but has never been a “viable contender” until this upcoming primary. The Illinois Republican Party as condemned Jones, saying that they “strongly oppose his racist views and his candidacy for any public office[.]”
