A horse died on the set of the Lord of the Rings TV series last week, Amazon Studios has confirmed. The horse was involved in production of the show in the U.K. and died of cardiac failure, according to a spokesperson for the studio. More than 30 horses were on set that day, sources told Deadline, and were being prepared for a battle scene. Last summer, a similar incident occurred on the set of HBO’s The Gilded Age when a horse collapsed and died during filming.
