The most American thing in America is over, and two heroes have emerged victorious in the annual Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. Sonya “Black Widow” Thomas stuffed 36 3/4 dogs into her 100-pound frame to win the women's title, narrowly defeating her closest rival, who could only manage 36. For the men, Joey “Jaws” Chestnut, the No. 1–ranked eater in the world, who entered the contest on a wooden throne hoisted by four men, achieved a personal best, 69 franks in just 10 minutes, to take the mustard belt for the seventh straight time.
