Republicans in the House of Representatives introduced Articles of Impeachment against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein on Wednesday, according to a release. Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC), Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), and nine others introduced the impeachment articles, citing what they called the Department of Justice’s “problematic decision-making during the 2016 campaign,” its “conduct surrounding” President Trump’s transition, and the department’s alleged refusal to comply with congressional oversight requests. They also accuse the Justice Department of “withholding embarrassing documents,” FISA abuses, and hiding investigative materials. “The DOJ is keeping information from Congress. Enough is enough,” Jordan said in the release. “It’s time to hold Mr. Rosenstein accountable for blocking Congress’ constitutional oversight role.” The move comes after Jordan and Rosenstein had a heated exchange during the deputy attorney general’s hearing in front of Congress last month.
