Hulu is looking to stream feeds of broadcast and cable-TV channels online, in an effort to woo “cord-cutters,” company officials say. The Netflix rival currently offers on-demand online programming from only a handful of networks. The new offering will position Hulu as a leader in “lean TV”—programming packages that offer fewer channels and are cheaper than those available from most cable-TV providers. The new project, which may include Disney Channel, ESPN, and Disney’s ABC, among others, is expected to launch in early 2017. Walt Disney Co. and 21st Century Fox are the co-owners of Hulu.
