Firefighters in Colorado and New Mexico are battling raging wildfires that have prompted hundreds of residents to flee the area. In Colorado's La Plata County, about 1,500 people have evacuated as a wildfire scorched through 1,500 acres of land. The blaze, about 15 miles outside of Durango, was 0 percent contained as of Saturday afternoon but had so far not destroyed any structures. In New Mexico, a mandatory evacuation order was in place for certain areas of Colfax County, where wildfires had burned through more than 27,000 acres of land by Saturday. With nearly 450 firefighters battling that blaze, it remained 0 percent contained Saturday, with high winds expected to continue to fan the flames.
