Two more bodies have been found inside submerged vehicles in flood-stricken North Carolina, bringing Hurricane Matthew’s death toll in the U.S. to 43. Gov. Pat McCrory announced the news at a press conference on Saturday, warning that “there are still many, may difficult days ahead.” The latest two victims were found in Cumberland County and Wayne County, he said. Nearly all of North Carolina’s 26 deaths were a result of people being swept away by flood waters. Several towns remain under water, including Princeville, Lumberton and Fair Bluff, and part of Interstate 95 remains closed. McCrory said the government will release a detailed plan on reconstruction efforts next week.
