At least one person has been reported dead after Hurricane Sally made landfall in Alabama. A city official in Orange Beach confirmed the death on Wednesday and said another person was still missing. The death occurred in Orange Beach's Back Bay area and was water-related, the official said. Additional details about the victim had yet to be released Wednesday night. The hurricane has battered the area with fierce winds and “life-threatening” storm surge, and residents in some areas faced additional dangers: a 12-foot alligator was spotted in Gulf Shores making its way around residential homes. “I went upstairs to survey the damage to our property as well as the neighbors boat dock I happened to look down and see this giant in our yard,” Tina Lambert Bennett told CNN about spotting the massive beast.
