More than 150 people were arrested Tuesday during an Immigration and Customs Enforcement raid at a trailer manufacturer in Texas. The agency’s Homeland Security Investigations division reportedly targeted Load Trail, a company that produces recreational and work trailers, after receiving a tip that some of its employees were undocumented immigrants. “This ongoing investigation began when HSI received information that the company may have knowingly hired illegal aliens, and that many of the aliens employed at Load Trail were using fraudulent identification documents,” ICE said in a statement. Katrina W. Berger, special agent in charge of HSI’s Dallas office, told reporters the raid was “one of the larger work site enforcement operations conducted at one site in the past 10 years.” Berger also noted that the suspects arrested in Tuesday’s raid “take jobs away from U.S. citizens and legal residents” and “create an atmosphere poised for exploiting their illegal workforce.”
