A former senior security guard at Trump National Golf Club and Trump family driver in Florida has been detained by immigration officials for eight months amid the president’s immigration crackdown, The New York Times reports. Zoltan Tamas, from Romania, had reportedly been here legally for years but wound up on the radar of Immigration and Customs Enforcement after applying for citizenship in 2016. ICE reportedly summoned him to the office in June 2017 to talk about his “inadmissibility,” and he was notified upon arrival that he would be detained in connection with insurance fraud charges against him in Romania. His wife has reportedly not seen him since, and told the newspaper her husband’s criminal record in Romania was linked to a friend using Tamas’ name to “make multiple phony claims to an auto insurer.” Romania has not reportedly requested his extradition, but a judge ordered Tamas to be deported. He reportedly interacted with the Trump family and even drove “campaign staff members and dignitaries” during Trump’s 2016 campaign at “$8.05 for driving and $16.50 for his security position.”
