The head of Interpol, Meng Hongwei, has reportedly been missing since a visit to China last week. Meng has not been seen or heard from since his trip at the end of September and French authorities have now opened an investigation into his whereabouts, according to German public broadcaster Deutsche Welle. The global police organization is headquartered in Lyon, France. Meng served as Chinese Vice Minister of Public Security before he succeeded French policewoman Mireille Ballestrazzi as head of Interpol in 2016, becoming the first Chinese official to hold the post. Interpol is yet to comment on the reported disappearance.
