Late-night shootings rounded out Monday's death toll to 116 in the bloodiest day Iraq has seen for a year. Monday was filled with bomb and gun attacks on mostly Shiite Muslims across the country, with the final nine dying after two bombs exploded late Monday night. At least 229 people were wounded yesterday in the attacks. Iraqi security officials are pointing to a local branch of al Qaeda comprising Sunni militants for sparking the violence.
