Ivanka Trump broke with her father’s administration on undocumented immigrants’ family separations during a Thursday interview at an Axios event, noting that she agreed with colleagues who called the policy “a low point in the White House.” “I feel very strongly about that, and I am very vehemently against family separation and the separation of parents and children,” Ivanka said. “These are not easy issues, these are incredibly difficult issues.” Trump also said that she does not consider the media to be “the enemy of the people.” These statements are a significant departure from those of President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly demonized the media and spearheaded the controversial family-separation policy. But despite Ivanka’s apparent convictions, she took no public stance on the matter until Trump killed the policy this June.
