President Donald Trump lavished praise upon then-FBI Director James Comey in January 2017, according to memos Comey wrote that were provided to Congress on Thursday. Comey wrote in one of the memos that Trump, then the president-elect, said he “was repeatedly put in impossible positions” and conducted himself “honestly” and had a “great reputation.” Comey also wrote that Trump asked him if he “hoped I planned to stay on.
